After their professor is murdered during a mock trial class, students find themselves embroiled in an increasingly complicated murder investigation that threatens both their careers and relationships. Each student’s unique family problems drive them toward striving for success in law school.
Yang Jong Hoon is an exacting professor who never engages in idle conversation and creates challenging exams for his students. Additionally, he was once prosecutor.
Han Joon Hwi
Joon Hwi is intelligent, even-tempered and an effective leader. A top law student, he keeps the identity of Seo Byung Joo a secret from his peers despite knowing he is their uncle. Additionally, he rooms with Ye-seul who was wrongfully charged for selling dangerous toys leading to deaths among children.
The death of Professor Seo shook up the university, with headlines proclaiming it as one of the largest cases ever seen at that university. First-year law students suddenly found themselves caught up in an actual murder case when Yang Jong Hoon, their own law professor was suspected of involvement.
As there were various suspects involved, it’s difficult to ascertain who killed Professor Seo. Assemblyman Ko and class topnotcher Han Joon Hwi were both prominent suspects as he was the beneficiary of Prof Seo’s will and nephew respectively. Furthermore, classmates Kang Sol A and Sol B were highly suspicious due to their poor grades and plagiarism incidents.
Kang Sol A
As soon as a professor at their premier law school is murdered, students become embroiled in an intense murder investigation. Kang Sol A (Ryu Hye Young), is an ambitious student but struggles with personal family matters at home; her wealthy parents pressure her to excel even if it means turning in plagiarized work.
Kang Sol A supports her Mother’s claim that she wasn’t aware of Seo submitting an exam paper and meets Lee Man-ho, an ex-chauffeur at her school who has been charged with child sexual abuse and moved into Kang Sol A’s dormitory specifically so as to install a hidden camera in her room.
Characters in this show were well-rounded, showing shades of gray rather than being cast solely as good or evil, which made the story more realistic as it approached its climax. Courtroom scenes were also fantastic as Joon Hwi and Kang Sol A uncovered evidence against Assemblyman Ko’s corruption circle.
Yang Jong Hoon
Law school students begin to suspect Yang Jong Hoon as soon as Professor Seo Byung Joo was found dead during a supervised mock trial class, prompting suspicion among their colleagues and instructors at law school. A former prosecutor himself, this no-nonsense teacher rarely engages in small talk or creates challenging exams for his students; additionally he donated large sums to the law school while in exchange receiving an award of free land from it.
Han Joon-hwi, one of Professor Seo’s nephews who always scores top grades in class despite keeping this knowledge to himself, and Kang Sol A are close roommates and best friends who always rally against his harsh teaching methods.
Assemblyman Ko
As soon as renowned law professor Seo Byung Ju’s death sent shockwaves through the law school, it sent shockwaves through students and faculty alike. Seo Byung Ju was widely respected instructor known for sponsoring student simulation courts and had close ties with Assemblyman Ko, even helping clients from Ko’s toy business. Students and faculty put aside their differences and worked together to uncover the truth – led by Yang Jong Hoon (Kim Myung Min), an ex-prosecutor who is notoriously strict when teaching law classes: no small talk allowed and creating exams designed to challenge students academically.
Class topnotcher Han Joon-hwi was Seo’s nephew and beneficiary in his will, giving him reason to want him dead. Meanwhile, Kang Sol A was an economically and academically challenged student involved with social justice cases who was able to uncover evidence implicating Ki Du-seong in Ki’s murder as well as secure voice memo from Assemblyman Ki Du Seong’s phone which Prosecutor Jin used against her.
